Who Is Today's Makeup Teacher? MEET Javinia...
Our beautiful tutorial teacher today is named Javinia, and not only does she teach makeup very well, she also needs to teach Black skincare because her skin is GORGEOUS! As you should know, proper skin care is key to looking good into your 30s.
Anywhoo... Let's GET INTO IT!!!
Getting You Prepped: Wash Your Grill 1st
So before you watch her video, just know that if you happen to get lost in her instructions, you can read what she does and uses here on this page at anytime.
So, NO WORRIES Sis! look...
... Javinia starts off with a clean freshly washed face. She feels like giving her face the home spa treatment and thorough cleanse is a very important step in the makeup process.
Even if your face has already been washed, a specific makeup preparation wash is a SMART step for better makeup application results and a cleaner look.
She is sure to use her Garnier micellar water just to make sure that she gets any pore-blocking gunk and junk off of her face.
She ALWAYS starts her makeup applications by spritzing her face with a Hollywood makeup industry special product, it's called Mario Badescu elite skincare spray this stuff gets your skin feeling revived and refreshed.
NEXT:
She preps her skin with a moisturizer, a great product fo you to prep for makeup is Elf Daily Hydration Moisturizer.
Even though Javinia has naturally oily skin and you'd think that an oily skin girl would be to stay away from products that say "hydration" in the title, assuming it's just gonna make you look more oily...
NOPE! Because actually...
When you do use hydrating primers and moisturizers before applying makeup it kind of counteracts the oils in your skin so that your skin doesn't overproduce and make you look super greasy at the end of the day.
Next Step: Use a Quality Primer
Now we get to the primer...
...and trying to figure out what kind of primer you should be using at first can't be kind of hard because there are so many types! There are...
- Illuminating primer
- Hydrating primer
- Mattifying primer
The primer you choose really just depends on your personal skin type and on the foundation that you will choose to use.
So for example, Javinia knows that she's going to be using a foundation that is very "matte", so she wisely decided that she's not gonna use a mattifying primer, even though her skin does tend to get oily.
If she uses a "matte" primer AND foundation though...
That would be a beginner mistake, and make her skin look super dry and chalky at the end of the day
So instead, she wisely chooses to go in with regular smoothing face primer, she uses the LA girl Pro cap primer.
