The Real Benefits of Using Hair Grease!
Is hair grease making a comeback?!? Look....
As we all know, we grew up with the stuff, ahhh, I can smell the Blue Magic grease on my fingertips and edges right now.... LOL.

Hair grease was a dang staple in Black households just like hair barrettes, scrunchies, and the voice of moms yelling at you to stop being so tender-headed and "sit still".
However: Since the early 2000s hair grease took a back seat and in some cases tossed in the trash.
Was that a MISTAKE though?
What if all this time we just never knew how to use it THE RIGHT WAY, and that there are real benefits such as length retention and scalp improvement.

ALL OF US BLACK WOMEN were raised on hair grease! Now we act like it’s the devil. REMEMBER....our hair grew just fine as kids using it.
We only start experiencing problems after that first relaxer or Jheri curl. I use SULFUR 8 medicated (the price is starting to skyrocket because it is still good)

The best "grease" I've ever used is actually the Mimosa Hair Honey pomade from Carol's Daughter hair products. It isn't greasy at all, it instantly calms frizz, and it makes my hair more manageable.

My hair was down my back using all the "no-no" products that the natural hair community demonizes.
I stopped listening to them long ago when I realized a lot of them just repeat the same things and do little to no research. Some of their advice didn't even make sense (like using oil as a heat protectant because it has a high smoking point ).
They can also be very hypocritical. For instance, they demonize mineral oil/petroleum jelly based on a study that wasn't accurately interpreted, the "it's not natural" sentiment, and because it's cheap but will glorify things like vegetable glycerin, which is also widely used because it is cheap, and isn't any more natural than mineral oil/petroleum (try making some in your kitchen from vegetables...).
In fact, most of the conditioning ingredients we love that come from coconut, etc. are highly processed and can only be made in labs.
My main a-ha moment was when I destroyed my BSL hair using alkaline shampoo (Dr. Bronners) because it was natural - that alkaline pH killed my hair! Had to cut to shoulder length and start all over. There is a balance that can be had and I'm learning how to use both natural and not so natural to get the best results. Thank you for your scientific approach.
